Karie* The Graphic Designer
Karie* is an award-winning designer who uses her powers of brand development for the fabulous industries of fashion, beauty and salon. She also moonlights as a rock star, frequenting venues such as her car and bathroom mirror.
Karie* was born Karie Williams in Kingston, Jamaica, and was raised in Texas. Her life goal was to be a lawyer when she grew up. She was very serious about this ambition until she got to college, acquired her first (and only) substantial reading assignment, and came to the abrupt conclusion that law just wasn’t for her. So, without a backwards glance, she fairly fled to the Communications Department. Her parents weren’t exactly thrilled, but nevertheless she went on to get a B.A. in Communications, Advertising and Marketing. Karie then got an Associates degree in Graphic Design because she wanted be on the creative side of the industry. She toiled around agencies for two years before breaking out on her own; June of 2010 signified four years of independence. Of course, her parents still don’t quite understand what she does.
Thus Karie was no longer Karie, but Karie* (the asterisk is imperative see below): brand development extraordinaire, and art director for fashion shoots. As stated before, Karie* has won awards for her groovy work. She placed 3rd for Packaging Design at the American Design Awards’ 2007 Winter Semi-Annual Design Contest. Additionally, she was the 2009 Graphic Design USA Award Winner for Brand Identity. Karie* also has a taste for the entrepreneurial: she owns a handmade fragrant gift company called Island Time Fragrances.
Karie*’s muse is a combination of interior design, traveling and cultures. Karie* likes to spend her spare time making candles, but she is also a shameless watcher of television, and a committed daydreamer.

*At first glance, one would think to pronounce my name like Carrie. However, my parents were a bit creative and decided my name should be pronounced like Marie but with a “K”; hence the spelling and pronunciation. And just in case you were wondering, I’m not making this up so my name can sound more “creative”. I’ve been accused of that.
